San Leandro, CA

This project consisted of the seismic rehabilitation of the Historic Peralta House in San Leandro. The building is a one-and two-story unreinforced brick and wood frame structure with a raised basement, originally constructed in the 1860's by the renowned Peralta Family. Fratessa Forbes Wong developed a seismic upgrade that improved life safety while preserving the historical fabric of the building including the addition of concealed wall ties and partial infill of existing voids in the unreinforced masonry walls. This rehabilitation was completed in 1997 and was partially funded by a HUD CD block grant.
