Suisun City Civic Center

Suisun City, CA

The Suisun City Civic Center complex was the winning entry for a design/build competition. The 20,000 square foot complex houses administrative offices, conference/meeting rooms, archival document storage, equipment and computer facilities, and a 5,500 square foot Police Headquarters wing. The Police facility includes a 24-hour communications room, investigations room, interview room, armory, and secure evidence storage space. The public spaces include the lobby, which can be used for informal or formal gatherings; the rear deck, suitable for quiet contemplation or public assembly; the dome platform; and the council chambers. The architectural form evokes an image of early government houses of the Victorian era. Built on a slough, the building has a commanding waterfront view, but required pile foundations for support. Building construction consists of a structural concrete slab on grade, pre-cast concrete wall panels, and wood framing for the roof structure.
