The 330,000 square foot hotel complex was built along the historical Monterey Cannery Row area. The lower structure, built over water, included special salt water and wave action resistant concrete, epoxy-coated reinforcing, and rock anchors. The upper structural solution involved post-tensioned concrete floors, light structural steel framing, and a tight construction schedule. The design also includes connecting bridges over Cannery Row and several arbor and trellis structures throughout the facility. |
