Laurel Creek Elementary School

Fairfield, CA

This new 45,000 square foot elementary school accommodates 868 students. The 7.32 acre site is next to Laurel Creek Park in North Fairfield, and supports eight separate buildings connected by covered walkways. Exterior elements include cement plaster walls and thin brick wainscoting, while sheet metal roofing serves as a visually unifying element.

Skylight-punctuated canopies highlight the entries to the Kindergarten, Administration, and Multi-Purpose buildings.

Construction materials consist of concrete slabs on grade and conventional spread footings, wood-framed plywood-sheathed walls, and wood framing for roof structures. The unique dome for the Library incorporates a tension ring and interior central skylight.
